The part "Local" in the sentence " local static assets" wories me a bit..

It could mean a static with 24 F-16s from the same unit, and maybe 8 A-10's.

The transports are very regular at Spang, so they can tow them from their spots to the staticline. The other a/c can make a weekendstop while they are making a navigationflight or a crosscountry flight or so....

Effective today, active-duty, Reserve and Guard units will cease all aviation support to the public. This includes the cancellation of support to all air shows, tradeshows, flyovers (including funerals and military graduations), orientation flights, heritage flights, F-22 demonstration flights and open houses, unless the event includes only local static assets.

If they put up all the local A-10s and F-16s on the static I dont mind.

Today I received very sad news, I got a message today from a LT Colonel from Spangdahlem that the Spangdahlem Open House is being cancelled due to cutbacks.

That would make it a todays dicision as yesterday I was invited by the 81st FS commander to join this day as it is the official A-10 farewell.

Well the US DOD budget cuts tend to s.... big time.
However on a positive note, it seems to be possible to get in contact with staff at Spangdahlem.
Something i haven't been able to accomplish...

Weekend stops or cross-country flights?.This isn't the 1980s.Such things were killed off about 20 odd years ago.
