Dear all,
We spent our summer holiday in north-east USA and south-east Canada. Although it was a family holiday, I was still able to photograph some helicopters en-route.
Starting in NYC. There are 3 heliports in Manhattan: Downtown Manhattan heliport (south), Atlantic Metro Port (East River) and Midtown Heliport (Hudson). I made a short visit to the Manhattan Heliport on 25th July, probably the busiest but usually less interesting helies. I think more business helies are visiting the others

Heading south, we passed through Sterling Aviation Heliport. Access was not allowed, but through the fence some pictures could be made.

In Washington DC – previous Anacostia Naval Air Station is currently called Eagle’s Nest. They only have 3 helicopters and I was very pleased to see this example

Northbound in Danville-PA the main location of Geisinger can be found. Lifeflight 1 is based here, but the hangar 2 other helies were present for maintenance.

The last stop on this day was on the Olean Hospital. Mercyflight covers western New York. Their HQ is on Buffalo IAP.

Niagara Helicopters have their own heliport in Niagara Heliport. They have a fleet of 5 helicopters.

If you ever intend to visit the Niagara Falls, I strongly recommend taking the “Maid of the mist” which brings you so close to the feet of the falls that you will be soaked wet. Fortunately they provide ponchos. To complete the visit you must take the helicopter ride from Niagara Helicopters. You will have a fantastic view from both falls. Left on the picture you see the American Falls, on the right part the (Canadian) horse-shoe falls. In picture below you also see the boat sailing to the feet of the falls. It was fantastic.
Continuing eastbound I saw a helicopter spot in Quebec City. Although the sun was behind the hill, I was pleased with the Coastguard Bell near the bank of St. Lawrence River.

At the airport Quebec Jean-Lesage a few helicopters could be found, amongst them the

Crossing the border, we arrived in Main. The Main hospital has helipad on the roof

South of Boston is Plymouth Municipal. Boston Medflight is based here, including a backup machine

I hope this gives an impression of “other” helicopters from this region.

Nice variety! Must have taken quite some preparation to know and find all these different locations?!

Hi Bas,
This is a good start. This website is pretty up-to-date for US helies, but not for Europe though. Combine this with some googling and look for the exact spot on Google Earth and most (>90%) of the locations can be located.
