Hi there,
In a week I'll go to Ukraine for some siteseeing. I'll start in Kiev, follow the Djnepr to Crimea, then to Odessa and then back north to Kiev.
Does anybody has got some tips for MIL stuff, preferably plane graveyards, old airbases ans stuff like that? I already found the missile silo (nice as I saw it's American counterpart south of Tucson, AZ) and the submarine base - OK, not so aviation related, but still very cool
Thanks,
Arthur

Yes, it would have been a good idea to mention this in the first place! Unfortunately the museum is open only a few days a week, and off course not when I will be around Kiev...Stratofreighter wrote:You already know about this one, do you?

Still I have seen pictures of old soviet graveyards, unfortunately it is almost impossible to find any information about them, help would be greatly appreciated!

Back from Ukraine, we changed the travelplans a little bit and I've been able to visit the Ukraine State Aviation Museum. It realy, really, reallyreally was worth it. The collection is great and the planes are in excellent condition. Also there is some information in English, something quite rare for an Ukranian museum.
I have not seen a lot of aviation-related stuff (appart from a very tired An-2 on something which could pass for an airfield, used for crop dusting) but the Museum of Strategic Missile Troops 2-3 hours south of Kiev and submarine base in Balaklava south of the Crimea peninsula were also great, I really can recommend Ukraine if you want to see and experience something else.
If you need some information do not hesitate to contact me, and for suggestions for next trip are still welcome!
