During the flightprogram the Queen's flypast will take place. Some bigger transportaircraft for the formation will fly from Brize as stated on the RIAT website. Does anyone know from where the 24 Hawks will fly from ?
Cheers Ronald

hi Ronald,
As they should be part of the Leeming unit (100sq) and from 4 FTS (Valley) I think they will fly from there and somewhere along towards Fairford they will form into the E II R formation
Regards
Frank

apan Air Self-Defense Force Boeing KC-767J added to the static display for RIAT 2012!!!
Japan said its announcement today that it would be sending an aircraft to participate in its first ever European airshow next week was a step towards developing closer military ties with the UK.
A Japanese KC-767J from the Japanese Air Self-Defense Force will arrive at RAF Fairford in Gloucestershire on Thursday (July 5) for the weekend’s Royal International Air Tattoo (July 7-8).
Other than for State visits, it will represent the first time a Japanese military aircraft has touched down on British soil.

As both days are mentioned (and RIAT having repeatedly stated all items were planned to fly both days), I would say this is for both Saturday and Sunday.RIAT wrote:Visitors to the airshow on July 7-8 will be able to see a repeat of the EIIR flypast, comprising 27 BAE Systems' Hawk fast jets
Don't forget there will also be three Hawks from the Navy in the formation.Frank van Hemert wrote:As they should be part of the Leeming unit (100sq) and from 4 FTS (Valley)

Re: Royal International Air Tattoo 7-8 July 2012
Update yesterday at the RIAT website; mostly already known but apparently the Oman AF A320 has been replaced by a Gulfstream IV; added is an Irish PC9M and a (civil) Sea Harrier FA.2 for the static; the last one probably is not a flyable example... or? Curious entry under "NATO": apart from the E-3, NATO/TNT is to display a "Fokker 50". I suppose they mean the B757...

Uhm, the AN-12 was seen arriving at Farnborough yesterday link so it seems the Yak operates from FAB for the time being and hops to Fairford for the displays.ErwinS wrote:Will the An-12 also stay at Fairford??MrEFHK wrote:Yak-130 Mitten and Support An-12 make a refuel stop in Turku this morning.
