Today Willie Walsh, CEO of BA announced a new scheduled service LHR-RTM-LHR. As yet no data on equipment or frequency. Very likely using A319s of former BD or possibly even Emb145s.

Interesting how the role of Rotterdam will develop in the hub and spoke system of many airlines. With Lufthansa starting a service to Munich and BA to Heathrow, KLM will face more competition on local grounds with regards to O/D traffic.

wow, good news. Airlines finally see the big potential of RTM. It's good for the local economy of rotterdam as well. You can finally reach Rotterdam new "by air" via the big hubs of Europe. Which opens lots of travel opertunities for locals and people around the world alike.
Let's wait and see what the frequency will be like, i guess 2 or 3 times on working days. I hope for a A319 as equipment (i think BA will be able to fill them due course)

i am awaiting the official announcement from the airline and Rotterdam airport. In considder it only 100% firm after the press release.
Let's hope that the Schiphol -group (read KLM) don't blow up these beautifull intentions. You must be out of your mind if you block any possitive developments in this time of recession.

Checked the schedule through slot coordination, the flights currently have a long turnaroundtime at Rotterdam...2 hours!

^^
What could be the reason for this? The more relaxed winter season? Slot restrictions at LHR? The last seems to be the most likely expanation.

As a RTM regular I check almost daily the slot coordination site. Last winter (11/12) I noticed something strange. Normally in the winter schedule you have to add 1 hour to the mentioned utc times.hmv wrote:Checked the schedule through slot coordination, the flights currently have a long turnaroundtime at Rotterdam...2 hours!
In this shedule the arrival times where in utc but the departure times where local times (UTC +1).
At first I did'nt believed it but after checking several flights for some time it was true.
So if they do this again with the upcoming winter schedule the BA turnaround times are not so strange. Only 1 hour.
let's wait and see. It wil certainly give some more 'colour' to RTM.
