Bodo Air Show 16-06-2012
Last weekend me and two friends visited the north of Norway above the Polar Circle for the 100 years RNoAF air show.
When we arrive at Bodo Airport on Thursday it was cold with only 7°C and cloudy. You could feel the snow cold from the mountains.
The air show arrival day was also a cold and windy one but we had lots of sunshine.
At the military entrance gate is the landing for runway 25. We have had no problems at all while standing there the whole day.
Up a hill at a former German bunker complex you have a great view over the base and you can make landing shots above the trees. Good spot!
The 07 side is not accessible because it's military territory. Maybe when you hire a boat because it's surrounded by water.
The air show was very relaxed with about 10.000 visitors only. We left the base at 20.00h but could have stayed longer if we wanted...
Only negative thing was the back light in the show but standing on a shelter the photo conditions were not that bad.
Strange thing was the midsummer-night sun. Twenty-four hours daylight is rare!
Arrival day the 15th:
This German Transall only made a overshoot and disappeared.

The air show:
The highlight for me as F-104 lover. Really great! A pity it could not fly because the ejection seats were still in the UK for certification.
Maybe next year at Volkel?

It was a surprise for me too to see a Canberra there. I think they were there more then we ever expected. The same for U-2's. In the museum is one preserved.

Bodø seems a better choice than Geilenkirchen last weekend!
Nice background, nice show, nice shots!

What a nice and varied report of this event! Pity about the backlight during the show but the scenery makes up for that.
