@ Michel N: that would work if you have an unlimited supply of holidays (is this proper english?). As it is, my holidays are limited. So I, and probably more with me, would appreciate it to know beforehand what to expect. And yes, I know this is not what spotting was about in the good ol' days...when you just went and waited to see what would turn up.

I don't know if you've informed yourself about this event in advance (it doesn't look like) but to give a short answer to your questions:

1: access without ticket: NO
2: pictures without fences: NO
3: flying activites: NO

Today tickets for Sunday were sold on the base.
I think enough tickets will be available on Sunday. You can buy them before you enter the base. If you arrive by car you have to be on the right lane.
