Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
Somebody has to tell that to MFG-5, which still lists it as confirmed?

Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
The website says that the farewell event is cancelled for 2012 and they will try it again in 2013 in Nordholz.

Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
Sorry kmarrie but you are not reading the text properly, causing (unnecessary) confusion. MFG 5 states that there will be no OPEN DAY at Kiel in 2012. However, the Fly-out ceremony still takes place as a private event, for which press AND SPOTTERS are welcome on June 23 from 0900-1300. See the link under media/spotters on the website you mention.

They received the news last week that there will not be a Danish Merlin. Do not know why they have not updated it.

Kim

Press/Media, see
http://www.farewell.mfg5.de/media.html .
http://www.farewell.mfg5.de/media.html .
The FlyOut 2012 is a non-open-to-the-public
but of course of-interest-to-the-public event,
by which Naval Air Wing 5 waves goodbye to Holtenau, gathering the international traditional SAR community and fellow units together for a final a happening to "celebrate" with retired and active personell as well as their family members.
Contrary to the past events (SAR-Meets) it is not possible to conduct an OpenDay for the public,
however it will be arranged to allow a small and prior obligatory accredited number of press/media and aircraft-enthusiasts to get a timewise strictly limited opportunity,
to gain access to the Static Display of guest-helicopters -
the last time with the Kiel scenery an skyline.
Date of this "Spotters Day" during FlyOut 2012 is fixed as of Saturday, 23 of June 2012, 0900-1300h.
For a mandatory accreditation as a journalist or spotter, please find the according form by following the link below.
November 2024 update at FokkerNews.nl....

Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
Interesting (static) line up! How are the photographic conditions? Is someone familiar with the situation at Kiel? I've never been there before. Someone who visited one of the past SAR-meetings?
I've seen some pictures on the internet from previous meetings and it looks like static helo's are normally parked close to the bay, which means noses in western direction.
In that case he positon of the sun (if there is any) will be favourable late afternoon. But access is granted until 13.00..
What do you think? Would like to hear your opinions
Greetings
Johan

Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
I have been there before, the last SAR-meeting.
Do no priority by me, nice pictures can be made. And everyone on base has been very relaxed.
Will probably visit it this year too.

I will be there for sure. Very scenic backdrop in the shape of sailing ships.
Hans.

mind you, in the small print it reads: 25 euro per day.

Re: Farewell MFG-5 event
relax hans,
not gratis entry head ups, that's all.
ps, your pics in the showreports are much static, may we draw the conclusion that it is pretty much a statical helicopter event during the photo-moments?
The Sea King over the water is lovely, would like to have all over them like that..
