Hello,
I had a Nikon 70-300VR that I sold to try to buy a Nikon 80-400. As I could't find one (used) I bought a Tamron 70-300. My question is- Is the Nikon 80-400, even without a fast focus, much better than the Tamron? Or should I keep the Tamron and wait for a Nikon replacement for the 80-400.
Thanks
Nikon 80-400

Re: Nikon 80-400
I had a 'regular' Nikon 70-300mm and a Sigma 400mm before I sold both in favor of an 80-400mm. The difference in quality was amazing! Don't know the Tamron myself, but I would be surprised if it can get anywhere near the Nikon 80-400mm quality!

Re: Nikon 80-400
I had a Nikon 80-400 VR .. glad I sold I recently . Totally not happy with this equipment.. Too heavy, focussing is slow , and zooming is heavy too...
Furthermore if you use focal lengths between 300-400 they tend to create a tunnel efffect.... black shades on the edges...
Back to a Nikon 2.8 70-200!!!

Re: Nikon 80-400
I use the Tamron in my signature, and i never used the 80-400. So i can't compare them, but a lot of test/reviews give the Tamron a higher qualification.
But if you choose for Tamron DON'T buy the old version, without VC.
