LOG: Hatzerim museum

Post by Sjoerd »

Only a couple of visitors were checking out the exhibits, which allowed me to inspect the revetments and part of the other surrounding storage area's without any problems. The serials in brackets however were not noted as some of the aircraft were simply worn out by the blazing sun over the past years. They were assumed from recent reliable reports, though not much has changed over the years. Only revetment 5 contained some new A-4's. Other new arrivals where the Czech Mi-24 and an unknown MiG-21UM marked "339".

Thanks guys for the addition/corrections!

MiG-21 ex Madagascan AF. Wow...never knew they had any, let alone me seeing one! Too bad it's not in his original markings. Is the serial correct?

**EDIT**,
I already found out that 339 is the sole MiG-21UM which is known being operated with that AF. Also the rubbed off text on the nose complies with the placing and length of "TAFIKA ANABAKABAKA", which is written on the nose of the former Madagascar MiG-21's.

As for B.707 088, this was was a typo. Many thanks for the other corrections.

In late April the first revetment had 18 F-4s in it.

Image

From the left, working clockwise around the revetment there are 15 aircraft, (all from photos)

295 (FTC markings - red stripes on tail)
108 (nm)
225 (107 Sqn)
141 (119 Sqn)
170 (107)
124 (119)
148 (107)
208 (107)
111 (119)
134 (69 Sqn)
159 (119)
333 (69)
327 (69)
317 (107)
122 (107)

There are three more in the middle, to the left side when viewed from the museum:

189 (69 special)
321 (69/107)
? (69 Sqn badge on tail) It's the one tail-on in the shot, closest to the entrance to the revetment.

Does anyone know the ID of this aircraft?

In the fourth revetment there nine F-4s, working around clockwise they were;

261 (107),
322 (69),
223 (107),
328 (107),
266 (107),
488 (107),
210 (107),
127 (69),
187 (119).
