The six Spang "Hogs" which are currently combat-deployed for OEF as part of a "Total Force" A-10C team (18 aircraft) will return home soon.
Deployed are:
A-10C 80-0275
A-10C 81-0956
A-10C 81-0965
A-10C 81-0966 (marked "52 OG")
A-10C 81-0981 (marked "81 FS")
A-10C 81-0985
This will mark the last return of Germany-based A-10Cs from a combat deployment because the 81st FS is proposed for decommission in FY 2013.
The replacement A-10C aircraft package already passed Lajes Field eastbound.

@jp 74: Sorry, although I'm a well-informed independent A-10 observer with a lot of contacts worldwide, I don't know any flight plans scheduled by U.S. Air Forces Central (AFCENT).
The return of the six Spang "Hogs" depends on two factors: (1) Arrival of the fresh A-10C aircraft package at Bagram, (2) available tanker assets to escort the redeployment of the "Total Force" A-10C aircraft package westbound.
The fresh package arrived at Lajes for their first stopover on March 31. I don't know when they departed Lajes further eastbound. Next stopovers enroute Bagram are Sigonella and Al Udeid AB, Qatar. And so, the Spang "Hogs" should return in one or two weeks. Hope that helps.

Yeah, that's right! And if I get any arrival date, I will share it with you.

Re: Deployed 81st Fighter Squadron A-10Cs will return home s
All Hogs have already passed Lajes, Sigonella and Al Udeid. The first batch of Bagram deployed A-10's has departed Al Udeid to Sigonella today as Trend81!! Don't know how many and which ones, but regarding the ferry eastbound, I guess the last batch will normally arrive at Sigonella on Tuesday. That hopefully means SP A-10 will be back at ETAD around Thursday/ Friday.J.J. wrote:@jp 74: Sorry, although I'm a well-informed independent A-10 observer with a lot of contacts worldwide, I don't know any flight plans scheduled by U.S. Air Forces Central (AFCENT).
