G'day Uni,

Do you know what type of show the Atsugi Spring Festival might be? Would it be an actual air show or just a public relations type celebration with the local community with no air activity?

Many thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Motty.

One other quick question (I've searched but couldn't find the answer already here).

Does the JASDF operate on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays)?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Motty.

Try Google on "Atsugi Cherry Blossom Festival" : e.g. http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=99561

Hi, Motty.

They usually open the apron at the festival, but static show only.
(and there will be no ropes around the a/cs)

Further, if you want to go there, please ask to the P.R.O. of the NAF Atsugi that you can enter the base or not.(Remember the Osan O.H. , South Korea 2011 !!)

And, usually there will be a long long line before the entrance gate due to the seculity check.
It will take more than 1 Hr. to enter the base.

JASDF/JGSDF/JMSDF is also "holiday" on Sat. and Sun. in Japan. No activities.
(Except routine maritime patrol, exercise, emergency and /or some special missions)

I did try a quick Google but it didn't come up with that (I probably used the wrong search terms).

Many thanks for that.

G'day Uni,

Many thanks for the information. I didn't think they flew on weekends from my previous visits but I needed to be absolutely sure.

What happened at Osan last year? I have only been to the 2007 and 2009 shows.

(PM me if you like so I don't drag this thread off-topic).

Thanks again.

Cheers,
Motty.

Hi, Motty.
>What happened at Osan last year?
Dutch people didn't allow to enter the base.
Please read the topic which is about 60 lines under this topic in this forum(see page 2).
http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=79555

I don't know about the regurations of U.S.militaries.
I think you had better to ask to the P.R.O. before you go to the U.S.-openhouse days in Japan.
(Misawa(USAF/JASDF), Atsugi(USN/JMSDF), Yokota(USAF), Iwakuni(USMC/JMSDF), Kadena(USAF),and Futenma(USMC))

Hi Uni,

Thanks for the updated information. Can you tell us more about 28 October? We were hoping to come over to Japan around this period, but what should we do if there are two (or even three) major airshows that day? For us Akeno en Tsuiki are really important. What happens on de day(s) before the airshow. Do they have a rehearsal day on the Friday before?

Next to that we are very curious about 20/21 October and 10/11 November. If possible we would like to make a two-week trip, including three weekends with airshows.

Hopefully you can tell us a little bit more.

Cheers,
Iwan Bogels
