Crystal blue skies at Spangdahlem and Ramstein

Post by Frank »

Hi all

Last Friday and yesterday I went to Spangdahlem and Ramstein to enjoy the bright, cold but crystal clear weather conditions. Excellent weather type to try out some long range shots from the Bismarckturm again.

Here some shots

Yep, i like them Frank, specially the first few close-ups..:) The Falcon has the best angle.. Good to see to difference of the special radarabsorbing paint and the normal Viper color scheme...
Groet,

Thanks all!

Well 100000000mm might be bit too much, but 1000mm would be nice :) What I did was use my 300mm 2.8L and use my 2.0 extender to make the landing shots. That would make 600mm. I have a EOS1D so it has a crop factor of 1.3 and I must admit i cropped quite a lot when did edit the image at home.

The shots from the platform were taken with 300mm + 2x extender + 1.4 extender all put together. So that would make 840mm and then of course I did some cropping again.

Taking pictures with all those extenders in between kind of ruins the contrast in the pictures so i used Lightroom in to add the "Dark value" up to about 10. So next time i would like to borrow some big ass lenses :-) @Crizz.on my screen it looks like I have added enough contrast. On which pictures would you add some more ?

Here's were the pictures were taken from. If you zoom out a bit, you will notice what kind of distances need to be covered. Don't forget that I cropped almost half of the original picture!

Hi Frank,

It looks like that your pictures already are deleted. I can not see them. Somebody has the same problems with this??

I'm very interested to see your pics from both airfields.

Greetings,
Eric

Frank's pictures generated too much traffic and exceeded the assigned Photobucket-bandwidth... So, tomorrow they'll be visible again!
