Re: Best photoshop program.
It depends on a lot of things.. Do you want freeware or do you want to pay for it? Do you shoot Raw or JPEG? Do you want just an image editor or a complete photo management tool? If you can be a bit more specific what you would like to be able to do, that would be helpful.
I don't think many of us have experience with both Lightroom and PhotoFiltre..

Re: Best photoshop program.
According to me this topic should have been posted in the Photography forum, not in this one.
But anyway, maybe you can also consider:
- Adobe Photoshop (buy) or
- The GIMP (freeware)

Re: Best photoshop program.
Try to get a Photoshop Elements version. It's not that expensive and a good and easy programme to start with.
If you lijke it (you will see, youre pics will be improving a lot) you can always buy a CS.5 version...
Good luck,
Rene

Re: Best photoshop program.
Hi Frits,
At this time Lightroom is the most widely used software within the Scramble photo community. There are loads of free tutorials (instruction videos) available on internet. Just type "Lightroom tutorial" in YouTube and you will get so many results that you won't know where to begin. DJdeRidder wrote a perfect book on how to use it as an aviation photographer. Check out http://www.milaviapress.com/lightroom/book.php
Next to that, many people here will be able to help you out on specific Lightroom questions. Free software may sound good, but not many people use it.
Good luck,
Iwan

Re: Best photoshop program.
I use Photoshop Elements and since a few months 'Zoner Photo Studio PRO'. Lately I find myself using the latter more and more instead of Elements. It has a RAW converter, and it does everything I need. Only when I really need to work with layers I turn to Photoshop Elements.

Re: Best photoshop program.
I'm not sure Lightroom is the most widely used application (many people still use Photoshop), but Lightroom definitely is the software with the biggest rise, especially over the past 1-2 years. It would be an interesting poll..Iwan Bogels wrote:At this time Lightroom is the most widely used software within the Scramble photo community.

Have you seen the price of CS5 in a regular store?SquAdmin wrote:With a serious risk of running into a trojan horse when you run the crack/regedit file...B767-300ER wrote:Buy? Try a newsserver ir a torrentsite!

Re: Best photoshop program.
I''m not saying people should spend thousands of euros on a piece of software, but just warning people not to trust everything they'll find 'for free'.

Hi...
However... CS5 is not necessary at all, you can also use Lightroom or Photoshop Elements. Or Paintshop Pro.
And indeed, CS5 costs thousands of euro's, IF YOU WANT THE COMPLETE MASTER COLLECTION IN DUTCH.
Photoshop CS5 as a seperate piece of software doesn't cost that amount of money.
Torrent sites deliver everything you want, at "a cost", the big risk for severe damage to your operating system!!!
Just think about that. As far as I'm concerned, DON'T use illegal software!!!
I use Nikon Capture NX2 (legal) Photoshop CS2 (legal) and Noiseware Professional (legal).
Takes some money to get it but it's without any risk and keeps my concience clean!
Grtz.

Sad but true guys... Software is not for free!B767-300ER wrote:Have you seen the price of CS5 in a regular store?

Well done!
People spend heaps of money on camera equipment but image editing software should be part of your toolbox as well.
You don't need to buy Photoshop, there are cheaper alternatives available as well.

Squadmin is right. Beware of Trojans.
Do what I did. I bought an old vcersion on eBay. Being the regular owner of a Photoshop 6, I was eligable for an upgrade. The PS6 costed me way below EUR 100, the upgrade only a few hundred EUR. Something else than close to EUR 1500.
