REQ.: preserved F-4 NAS DALLAS
I don't know whether this is the right part of the forum to ask this question.
Moderator, if not, please move it to the proper one.
In the past - back in the early 90s - there was a gate-guard at NAS Dallas, a preserved F-4N BuNo 152269.
Does anybody know what happened to this F-4 after the closure of NAS Dallas ?
Any info would be appreciated.

Saw 2 Phantoms there in April... one being 64-0825 (in Navy colours), the other one being 153821!Richard from Rotterdam wrote:http://www.ov-10bronco.net/Pix/Memorial ... 0x1452.jpg

Re: preserved F-4 NAS DALLAS
hi Richard,
at the FWVMAP there are 2 F-4s :
USN QF-4S BuNo 153821 and USAF F-4C 64-0825, painted as a USN VF-202 "Superheats"
the picture I found on the 152269 http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.s ... ers.net%2F is different then either of the 2 now appearing at the FWVMAP.
It might be the same, but then she should have been repainted.
In that case, just to be sure, I would like to know whether it was really BuNo 152269 that was preserved on a pool at NAS Dallas, or that it was the 64-0825 that was repainted later in the current colors.

Re: preserved F-4 NAS DALLAS
The museum's website says it's an F4C, not an F4N. And besides that, it gives 64-0825 as its number, not a bureau number! So far, I haven't found any mistakes on this website compared to my own observations!Flanker wrote:hi Richard,

thanks Ben,
in that case, I come back to my initial question, with an additional one : was it BuNo 152269 that was preserved at NAS Dallas ? and if so, what happened to her ?

The USAF Directory 2010/11 by Ken Wardle / Mach III gives it as a QF-4S...last noted at MCAS Cherry Point in '89.

Re: REQ.: preserved F-4 NAS DALLAS
I just saw pics of the NAS Dallas F-4N, dumped in bushes a rough neighborhood, together with two F-14s... Will check for the GPS position.

Yeah, I posted the coordinates there as well but took them down 10 secs after posting, to avoid a lot of people trespassing. Still, someone saw the post and zoomed in on Google Earth Ah well, the descriptions in the original posts were such that I was able to track down the position, anyone could have.Flanker wrote:saw the images on FB.
