USAF An-12 anyone?
I thought you guys might like to see this.
Managed to get down to Dunsfold Saturday to see An-12 (UR-CAH) which had been dressed up as a U.S. cargo plane for a forthcoming film World War Z.
It departed back home today after all the paint was washed off!
Thanks!

Re: USAF An-12 anyone?
Renting a "real C-130 Hercules" for the duration of filming was a bit more expensive than hiring some Ukrainian outfit I suppose ?
Well, you've got to admit, at least the director will not use CGI for these takes...
See the Wikipedia-page for this film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_Z_(film) .
Quite a coup! Thanks for posting!

Great catch!
This reminds me of a Russian film I once saw with an IL-38 dressed up as a P-3 Orion.

Yeah I can only imagine this is why they chose an An-12?Stratofreighter wrote:Renting a "real C-130 Hercules" for the duration of filming was a bit more expensive than hiring some Ukrainian outfit I suppose ?
Would've been nice to see a real C-130.. but still, I think it looks quite cool actually!

Naaahhhh... Don't judge a book by just looking at its' cover...this movie will be skipped by me...
But I think it is safe to say the Dunsfold takes will not have involved something even remotely similar to this clip :

Re: USAF An-12 anyone?
That landing is cool indeed, but what comes after the landing really is the coolest thing of that movie (Lord of War).

Nice catch!
Dunsfold, that's Top Gear territory, right? Caught any four wheel low fliers?

I like it, its nothing you`ll ever see again after the movie is shot, while a US Herc..well you got plenty chances to see that one.

Thanks for all the comments.
I can't imagine we'll see another An-12 looking like U.S mil !
Re: USAF An-12 anyone?
There should also be a B747 with B-52 engines at Dunsfold (from Casino Royale movie):
