SBS / Radio logs
Forum rules
Mode S / SBS and radio logs, airfield specific, are allowed, but always state your source, mode S / SBS or air traffic conversations. These logs can be placed in the "day topic" so a separate Mode S / SBS radio log is not necessary |

In that way, you can keep the RS topic clean (with eyeball confirmations only as regards to the logs).

I just would like to show others what is going on in Ramstein.
But when you don't like it than i stop with it. No problem for me.
Cheers,
Eric
Too bad, you seem to be a little agitated by what has been mentioned here.
There is no reason for that. If you just mention your source. Considering the logs you provide a few extra words shouldn't give a whole lot of extra pressure. Isn't it ?
All info / logs that are being provided by " all of us " is good.
Saying most of the die hard RS spotters don't provide there logs, is irrelevant.
That's the choice THEY make. Just be proud your apparently not one of them and that what you do is highly appreciated by most of us!
So feel free to continue the good stuff...

Re: SBS / Radio logs
Hi,
Personally I would say make another subfolder IN the Germany folder (just like RS and SP) for "SBS Germany logs". Because these are not 100% sure / confirmed etc. Make 1 topic per day.
If somebody has a log for either RS or SP "just" post it in that treat. Also possible heads-ups should be posted (at least in my opinion) straight in the RS or SP folder.
And fully agreeing with K-9 that it's just a matter of making things clear, not offensive to anybody posting (this kind of) information.
Kind regards,
Oz

Re: SBS / Radio logs
After an external discussion, see above and an internal discussion we came up with the following new rule, see:
http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=47755" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
We acknowledge the fact that Mode S / SBS and radio logs could be off good use to somebody, we also agree on the fact that both sources are not 100% reliable.
A separation of Mode S / SBS and radio logs (assumptions!) with an actual log (fact) is, at this moment, not desirable. We notice that in the early hours / during the day a lot of Mode S / SBS and radio logs are posted, at the end of the day / during the following days, those logs are confirmed by people who were actual there. Having both logs together is more clear as there are two separate logs.
By having this two types of logs together it is very important to notice your source, Mode S / SBS or air traffic conversation or an actual read off. Therefore it is obligated to mention the type of log you posted / your source.
We will continue to monitor these forum in order to see if this new rule has the effect which we had in mind.
If you have any questions / remarks etc. feel free to post.
Have a good weekend!

Just a question, why not post all these radio logs in the right forum? Radio Activity?
Cause (except from AMC logs), none is read at Ramstein....

Re: ETAR 03-09-2011
The rules are very clear. Next to that the discussion about mode s / sbs and radiologs has been held in the past with the current rules as result. For your info several people have already be warned about posting logs without mentioning the source. So please stay to topic and stick to the rules.

So how did the above serial(s) come up here then? Not read, but (all) through sbs?

I always state " showing " in my logs, which indeed indicates My own SBS-1/Mode-s sighting.. If needed I will change it to " Mode-s shows "Oscar01 wrote:So how did the above serial(s) come up here then? Not read, but (all) through sbs?

And here we go again..... looking at your logs, all serials were taken from SBS? How difficult can it be just to mention that......

Re: ETAR 11-10-2011
As we all now most posts from mainsail are from SBS. My personal opinion is that we should be happy that somebody takes the oppertunity to mention this own recordings (Livestream + SBS) to give a good overview from the current happenings at Ramstein, Spangdahlem of every other place that somebody is able to cover with his equipment. Everybody who knows mainsail, including Oscar, knows that mainsail makes the remarks when he is actually at the airfield (so the other way around as suggested by Oscar) before postings on this board. Nevertheless I have the same remarks about serial trustability. In Dutch: "Ken je klantjes voordat je iets aanneemt".Oscar01 wrote:And here we go again..... looking at your logs, all serials were taken from SBS? How difficult can it be just to mention that......

Re: ETAR 11-10-2011
Like said before, off course every input is appreciated. But for the board viewer who one time a year goes to Ramstein and views this forum once it is not clear if Mainsail postings are actually read off or taken from SBS. For many people it makes a difference if something is actually read of at Ramstein itself or taken from SBS. Still SBS is can not be trust for 100% but SBS gives a good indication about movements, because of the latter we do approve SBS logs at this forum. The main criteria to post SBS logs is that you always state it is a SBS or radio log. How hard can that be? For instance put in your signature that every log you post here is taken from SBS and when other it is mentioned. It is up to the reader to decide if a serial taken from SBS does count for him/her.
