This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |
Wolfhound Phantom MLM
The MLM F-4E Phathom II in the colors of the 32nd TFS era arrived at the musuem today after a slight delay. It's still without is 32nd Wolfhound and 17th FW emblem but those will be put on later. All in all it looks quite like the old CR Phantoms. For now it's stored at the depot hangar of the musuem and will be put together during the coming months. The public will be able to see it during the open depot days in April.

Re: Wolfhound Phantom MLM
Nice photoshoot! I think they should park all the 32nd TFS aircraft in front of the shelters in Camp New Amsterdam, so you can have a real nice sunday afternoon walk through the Cold War area.

This is how a CR Phantom looks like when digital images were possible during the seventies! Nice paintjob!

What about the MIG kill near the intake of the Phantom...did a F-4 Phantom from the 32nd TFS have a Mig kill during the time they were stationed at CNA???
Nice paint job by the way...hope to see it in 2012..

Re: Wolfhound Phantom MLM
No, but this (never 32nd in real life) frame is a real MiG-killer, so nothing more then appropriate to have a MiG killmark applied. "Our" J-063 also kept its kill mark after it transferred to another squadron.robertssb wrote:What about the MIG kill near the intake of the Phantom...did a F-4 Phantom from the 32nd TFS have a Mig kill during the time they were stationed at CNA???

According tohttp://208.84.116.223/forums/index.php?showtopic=34347
the kill marking is real, representing a MiG-21 shot down by Lt. Col. Lyle L. Beckers and 1Lt Thomas M. Griffin on September 12, 1972. The aircraft (tail code JJ) and crew were TDY from the 35th TFS, 3rd TFW, and assigned to the 388th TFW at Korat RTAFB.

Re: Wolfhound Phantom MLM
concerning a question about applying the lots of text-stencilling.
i talked to the people of the paintshop at lelystad: the nose and tailsection: all the text is painted. the fuselage minimum of stencilling and the wings etc: stickers. this is the way the people from the MLM wanted it. so the jhundreds of stencilling will not be applied.
