The Almighty Tornado; Heavy Metal at Lechfeld....
On our way to Zeltweg we visited Lechfeld. The visit was arranged by the GRAS
and activities were outstanding at this base. The opportunities are great at this
German base and the crews know what we want. I tried to make a more dynamic
photo series from this great morning!

Hi Alex,
Love your shots (as I told you already)..... My favorite is the green Tornado with the four fueltanks. Does anyone have a clue if they fly in this configuration more often. For me it's the best looking config for a Tornado, just like with fully hung Starfigters.
Cheers,
Iwan

Still think the Tornado is the proto-type of all jets
BTW whats the giant bomb/pod under centreline in picture nr. 2 and 3?
Nice to see all Tonka's have bombs or Harm under. Do they still drop them at Nordhornrange?

Nice Alex, you nailed it. You succeeded in making an apparently ugly type into something photogenic... Love the weaponry.Redskin301 wrote:I tried to make a more dynamic

Hey Alex,
Very nice shots dude, famous tripod work? It shows. The angles rock, the green Tornado is one of the nicest pictures I've seen of a Tor. And the configuration is indeed awesome! Well done!

Wonderfull pictures! The great thing about them is that they look so "operational". So many pictures these days show jets in special paintjobs (or just "boring grey"). That why I especially like the green/camo Tornado! And having them carry weapons and fuel thanks just adds something extra.

Re: The Almighty Tornado; Heavy Metal at Lechfeld....
The "big bomb" under the Tornado is not a real bomb. It is an aerial refuelling pod. Here is some information about it: https://www.cobham.com/media/75496/BS%2 ... V10607.pdf
It is used to refuel jet with a probe and drogue system and can be carried by one of the jets in a strike formation.
