hello Everyone,
I have got a question about spotting at Whitmund AB. It has been a very long time since my last spotting trip to Germany (I believe 1994) and I just started to pick it up again. What are the chances of spotting Rhinos at Whitmund on a Friday? Does the Luftwaffe still stop with flying operations at around 1200L? Can anyone give me some information about this. Thank you for your help,
Regards,
Jp

Nice spelling
Wittmund! Anyway: according to some NOTAM's for this week about radar service I would say that Wittmund 'closes' activity around 13:30 local time on Friday... (until Thursday last action around 16:00). So only 1 or 2 rounds on Friday.

......here is a copy-paste of an email I received yesterday....

Now I hope you all can read German, if not here is a very brief translation:
NO spottersday on june 16th.
So, now it is definitive.

Hi Richard,
I've read the lead Tornado in the 2-ship as the 45+61.
One correction for the mentioned serials of the F-4's in the afternoon wave. I havn't seen the 38+58 in the afternoon, but I did see the 38+24.

Johan

Hi Johan,
You're right it was the 24 in stead of the 58. messed up my notes...
Cleared up the mistery Tornado also.. thx.
Did you also see the white UFO with no registration? made a vertical landing on the runway! I was just after the A4 landed.
Can anybody tell me what the lithuanian transporter is doing at wittmund, or laage?

No, I first arrived in the afternoon when the first Tornado made an approach.

Hello All,
I`m planning to visit Wittmund for the first time, next wednesday (18-5), i already checked if there were any German holidays and nope, now i just need to verify if i can expect any action.
Anyone know if the trip is still worth it?.
Thanks.
