Kiev, wrecks, relics, civil and mil (the last day)

Hello,

This weekend I am staying in Kiev with some friends (non spotters). I would like to share some pics of different places we went to. I am using my old laptop so do not judge the coulours to much please .

Yesterday the 7th we visited Chernobyl. It was a Brightfull day . Unfortunately we did not see the stored Helos (7 Mi.6 and 3 Mi.8 ). We were lucky with a Mi.2 which stands on alert for fire service in Chernobyl.....; The c/n is in the boom and the serial is removed..... The fireman said it still flies. They have two.


Today (the 8th) we walked out our hangover. In the Park in South East of Kiev a few a/c can be found;




The Museum in Zhulyani is great!
They have 2 MiG.29's

A nice line of Kamovs and Mi´s is present

4 Bombers stand in a line







These 2 are strange, they have the same c-n stencilled....

There are two MiG.25´s, the second is very damaged and might be used to rebuild this one (just a theory)?






May-be I get back tomorrow again to do some checking on c/n's. I suppose to

I was in Kiev a few weeks ago. In case you don't know: there is a military academy with a MiG-29, MiG-27, Mig-23S and Mi-24 in the Kiev center at Povitroflots'kyi ave. near the crossing with Aviaconstructora Antonova street. They can be seen from the outside.

Thanks for the comments and the suggestion JPG (I saw the Academy a/c ).
Today I was on public transport all day. First to Chaika on the west side of town.
A Yak.52 is guarding the gate.


There are all sort of Mi.2’s at the grass airfield.


And some nice Antonovs.

After the picture above I got kicked off (from the outside) in a not so friendly way…… But the “you call your boss and I change my card trick” worked .
2 busrides later I walked around Zulyani.




I ended up at the museum again. This time my goal was to take some nicer shots then the ones from yesterday.

My last stop was a MiG in the south of Kiev. EMOOS, GE, 2 busrides and 2 metrolines and a walk is enough to reach it, pffff.

The noses, who knows them

Hmm, i'll give it a try;

- Beriev Be-12 and Be-6.
- Tu-95 (don't know wich version)
- TU-134 trainer and 3 TU-22s, first nose is the M-version and two earlier versions.

The Beriev Be-6 is now just an empty shell, really.

The Mil Mi-26 in this museum has a rather awkward cockpit interior; it looks like anything that was useful got stripped out, and only some "mock-up displays" with "exhibition-style chairs" remain...

Haha youre right! From the signs I read the Berievs as a 6 and 12 and the Tu134 as a UBL.
BUT with the question I also reffered to the brothers D. from B.
P. tought me spotting .

And yes indeedie, the Mi.26 looks very strange and cheap from the inside. It feels like a sort of mockup. I looked everywhere for a c/n Martijn... as for the Tu.22's (which are not tied up with a c/n). I even crawled through their wheel bays. The unknown MiG.17 I did not see. A full report will follow soon (Thys).
Today I was at Borispol and Zulyani. I will put the pics later. Most are civil but I hope for some ex mil. I am Back home now and time for sleep.

Yesterday the 10th was my last day around and in Kiev. I decided 2 go 2 Borispol. After some military spotting I took some civil pics. I am not a civil spotter so I do not know if these are special, just try to impress ;










After Borispol I had to hurry to get to Zulyani for my flight back (2 busses, 2 metro and 1 bus). I was just in time. On my way to the plane I was able to take some shots. A military guy wanted me to delete my pics but after some talking we shook hands......
There are a lot of Antonovs stored in two lines. Some of the serials will follow later.

It looked nice but very civil to me

During taxi I was able to shoot the last pics.

Ukraine is a very relaxed country with great people. I am happy I went and expected it to be less relaxed. I cannot wait to get back and do some more spotting and drinking. Ofcourse the real die hards already went there in the beginning of the 90's.....

Your camo An-26 is ex Peru AF 374 c/n 5502.

Indeed Ukraine is a nice country with many exotic tressures, even nowadays.......... And you can fly to Kiev (and back) for under 100 Euro ! For the new EMOOS 2011. I (and Michel) did most of the research and found many, many "new" Wrecks and Relics. If you go back don't forget this nice book.
