Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
Was that impression of that Silent Hawk made after these first photo came out?
Otherwise it could well be the one used in the attack on Bin Laden. Tail section looks exactly the same.
Even the V-shaped wings.
Best regards Rob.

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
I've read on another forum that those drawings were made after the photos of the tailrotor were published.

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
Yes guys,
Sorry for answering so late on things, it's very hectic at my job atm.
the seconde one was made After the pictures came out, but really gives a nice perspective on things. If it would be looking more like the first one it would definately be jaw dropping.
but i don't know anything more then you do though.
Cheers,
TG1984

This topic was started in 2007!1st. story, a friend of mine was driving on the lonely highway between Arizona and Neveda that is known for the most UFO sittings, so they are driving along and his buddy says....look out your window! He looks out and there is a Blackhawk helicopter flying close enough that they can see the faces of the guys in the helicopter checking them out! But they hear nothing, next thing they know Blackhawk just pulls away and disapears.
2nd. story. Another friend of mine was on an island up in the North West and was up at the town Reservoir doing some work...then he notices a shadow on the lake and looks up and there is a Blackhawk huvoring by the tree line. Sits for a minute and then disapears gone....no sound!!!

Patrick

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
I think the painting shown by topgun1984 should be the helicopter we are talking about.

Once again, it's just an artist impression based on the picture of the tail. For all we know there could be an S-92 on the front end.

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
S-92? wouldn't that be a bit to big?? if you look at the dimensions of the airframe, in comparison with the Tail that's found, than the tail should be at least twice as big. I also think that the airframe of a Black Hawk is better to adapt for "stealth" technology, than the S-92 does.

Indeed a bit painful (utter embaressment if you will) that they lost it in a foreign country,
(way worse than an ancient RNLN lynx recently in Lybia).

At least they got Osama Bin Laden in return for the helicopter, We just lost an ancient lynx because some fruitcake thought it would be wise to land it on a boulevard of Kadaffi's place of birth to pick up a nobody ( certainly not as high value as OBL ) to bring him home. Our intell failed, the commander of the ship failed the pilots failed. In all a F*ck up like no other in recent history. Speaking about utter embaressment.

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound

Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
A question that arises with me is; Why use some kind of stealthy apparatus in combined operation with a Chinook?
Re: Unknown tail rotor Osama compound
Well, maybe he's talking about production costs and doesn't include development costs. According to wiki the unit cost of an MH-60G is US$10 million, so if you add some special coatings and a funny tail rotor the production costs might be a sixfold.aviodromefriend wrote:Volgens het NOS journaal heeft Obama in the situation room gezegd dat de heli 60 miljoen zou hebben gekost. Apart from that, the Pentagon could mention any figure it wants because no one knows or will ever know the real one. If in reality they lost a helicopter of US$600 million the public opinion about the operation might change a bit...
