Some nice light on these powerfull birds. nr. 1 is my favourite. But tell me, single afterburner or not, why the hell is this deployed during approach anyways?
Shoot first, edit later!

Really???? Does that exist? Maybe for getting under you Maximum Landing Weight when approaching with too much fuel??? But you would notice that earlier I guess. Weird.single afterburner approach
I always say a boy can learn more at an airport than at any school.

Did it actually land or was it making an overshoot after this pic was taken? The text doesn't confirm it to be actually landing If it was making a low approach, activating the afterburner is much more logical to gain more power again.
Nice piccies BTW! I start liking Tornado's much more the last few years.

Assymetric reheat was also practiced a lot at Coltishall and probably many other bases with twin-engined fighters. Pilot has to stay on the centreline while performing missed approaches with 1 engine idle. I have seen it with Jaguars, AMI Tornado's, JG72 Phantoms but never with USAF jets like the F-15's at LN or Soesterberg in the past.

Re: Büchel ETSB - 07.02.2011
Haven't seen Eagles do it neither.. But I didn't really pay attention at the engines though. Could be that they actually did this, but used one engine without reheat.. The Eagle has a lot of energy and considering the relatively clean configuration they usually flew in (at Soesterberg that is..) they might had enoguh power to do this on one non-afterbruning engine.. Just speculating though.

Thanks for the comments, guys. GAF Tornados doing this kind of approaches regularly. They also did it often in Nörvenich. After the Takeoff they go into an instrument approach and start one afterburner. Then they overshoot and the regular mission begins. Mostly Tornado IDS/T(=Trainer) do this.
Here is testflight Tonka 45+66 again, during the non restricted takeoff. Two Minutes later it went supersonic...
