Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
Hi,
Did some archive work and found one of my first self shot fighterplanes, this F-4G 69-0248/SP 480TFS commander.
It was parked near the fence- at the northern side, a female ground crew with very big feet was checking this Phantom before the afternoon mission, in August 1990. It was my first Spang visit, in 1,5 hour around 15 F-4Gs and 20 f-16Cs were launched from all the three units 23/81/480TFS!
It was the build up for their deployment to the Middle east because of Desert storm/shield.
Regards,
Maurits

Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
Good afternoon,
I would like to update this section with some Hellenic F-16s. Four F-16Cs 047,051,053 and 065 came in for a fuelstop, on their way back from the Nato air Meet, Sept 2000. They were planned to go to Ramstein but came in at Spang. With 6 Turkish F-4Es/RF-4Es and two C-160Ds it was a nice day! The shots were taken on the old- spot near the fence in front of the tower.
Regards,
Maurits
