Koksyde 6-7 July is Wednesday and Thursday , a rather strange date.
Is this THE birthdaydate of the Belgian Air Force, or did they(Koksyde) perhaps allready knew that the Thunderbirds were only able to display during the week, and have they adjusted the date? Just a thought.

Re: Thunderbirds 2011 (unofficial?)
The change from the weekend to a weekday is for 2 reasons:
1: they don't have to pay extra weekendfees anymore to military personel
2: they don't have a clash anymore with other airshows, so there can be more participation, even of things you don't see at airshows that make a "navigation trip" to Koksijde to fill the static display.
So not a bad move at all: only advantages!!!

Yes, except for the fact that a lot of people will not visit the show in that case because they have to work or go to school. Hmm, maybe that is an advantage too for the organisers, not so many people also means not so many problems. Pure Belgian logic I guess.Wim wrote:So not a bad move at all: only advantages!!!

Re: Thunderbirds 2011 (unofficial?)
Summerholiday 2011 in Belgium will be from 01-07 till 31-08. So the kids don't have to go the school and (as you know) usually a lot of parents/employees do have some weeks off too.

Re: Thunderbirds 2011 (unofficial?)
It also seems a bit strange that they will come to Denmark on June 15th since the Danish Air Force will not host an airshow next year. At least not according to their website.
Kind regards

In 1984 they also appeared at Soesterberg, even though no airshow was planned in advance.jaah wrote:It also seems a bit strange that they will come to Denmark on June 15th since the Danish Air Force will not host an airshow next year. At least not according to their website.

Which base is Turku?
Re: Thunderbirds 2011
Turku is a coastal city in the Southwest of Finland. It does have an airport, but not an airbase.

Re: Thunderbirds 2011
From the Scramble calendar : 11jun11 12jun11 Jesolo seafront (VE) Esibizione / Airshow
Re: Thunderbirds 2011
So i guess the date in DK is a stop on the way to Finland. As long as they will fly a show, i would drive to Karup only to see the Thunderbirds. (only 450 km one way)
Re: Thunderbirds 2011
According to the official website they are also 8 june at Baneasa Airport in Romania.
