Good evening,
Because my spotting career started at RAF Bruggen, 22 years ago, I have collected some pics and slidescans to remember this nice RAF air base as a spottingplace in Germany. The quality of the pics is not always good but starting photography with a very old camera with a 45mm lens....
Starting with the main gate. The big blue shield was later replaced at the new grey small wall.
Jaguar GR1 ''XX822/AA'' with 14sq markings was preserved in the centre of the air station, serving as a gateguard.
3sq Harrier GR3 XZ967/F shows some VSTOL manoeuvres during a small Family day, July 1988
A lot of different vistors passing through like this German TTTE Tornado IDS 43+12/G-70 based at Cottesmore, March 1994
An old Harrier T4 ZD993/U from 233OCU took off to the eastside back to its homestation Wittering, Spring 1993
27sq Tornado GR1 ZA453/JD in take off, Spring 1993
ZG779/CM from 17sq with no sq mks in take off, Summer 1993
VC-10s were weekly visitors, here XV106 from 10sq, Summer 1993
XV101 on approach, Spring 1996
XR808 turn on the runway, Summer 1995
A pair of two 31sq Tornado GR1Ts ZD812/DX and ZD741/DZ, Summer 1993
Some Tornados in old grey/green camo, here ZD809/BA from 14sq, 1994
ZG792/BH from 14sq, Summer 1993
ZD890/AE from 9sq, Summer 1993
ZD892/BJ in take off, Summer 1993
ZD842/CY from 17sq, Spring 1994
ZD741/DZ from 31sq, March 1994
You can almost smell the burners, always a nice sight a pair in take off
In 1999 the most Bruggen GR1s were upgraded to GR4s and also turned into a grey colorscheme, here
ZD740/AF from 9sq, February 1999
ZD716/JM from 17sq wears a special tailcode providing deployments in the Middle east, February 1999
ZG794/BP 14sq still in it's old colors, February 1999
Summer 2000 my last time to take pics of Bruggen Tornados, here ZA557/AC from 9sq on the parrallel runway
ZA550/DD from 31sq on approach, shot was made in the forest were they turn in for landing
ZA602/BY from 14sq
hope you like the pics.

Maurits

If you are into RAF Germany the book "Royal Air Force Germany since 1945" by Bill Taylor really is a must have!!!Slijfie wrote:Cool! RAF Germany was great, wasn't it? I can't get enough of these old photos.

I recently bought a scanner and I "found" some negatives from Bruggen.
