Went to Billund (Denmark) for a couple of days. Besides visiting Legoland and the aquadome at our resort, I spent a little while at the nearby airport.
Billund is a regional airport, comparable to Rotterdam. Lots of places to peek through the fences and a decent view on the main platform. Also, the runway offers good opportunities for spotters. Although no official designated spottersplaces, there are lots of spots to park your car. Local police is friendly, as long as you abide by the rules.
Billund has different categories of visitors. First, there’s the regular traffic, consisting of Cimber Air, Cimber Sterling, KLM, Lufthansa and Ryanair flight. Also, there’s a lot of holiday traffic from Jettime, Primera and Thomas Cook Scandinavia.
On the cargo and general aviation platforms you can find the occasional DHL and TNT aircraft, as well as light aircraft, helicopters and business jets. Also, Danish military aircraft use the field for refueling.
The next couple of pictures were shot between September 30th and October 3rd, in random order and in different weather conditions, so sorry about the quality of some of the pictures.

According my database the yellow Piper-on-a-pole is OY-BBH (pictured it myself in juni 2005).
PA-28-180C, c/n: 28-4351
At that time there was also a beautiful Convair-440 on the airport, which had just been flown in from the USA, and which should fly in old SAS c/s.
But... new management in SAS and monetary decisions ruled otherwise, so the airworthy Metropolitan was scrapped instead!

Haha, I do!camel1 wrote:Nice shots. No pictures of Legoland-airport?
Although it isn't what it used to be. This is the 3rd version of the airport I've seen so far. The previous one was kind of based on Munich Airport, but the current one is almost similar to the new Billund Airport. A really big shame that almost all aircraft are imaginary. At the previous airport you could easily recognize Lufthansa, Finnair, SAS, KLM, Patrouille de France etc. Now it's only fake planes, some historic planes, a SQ A380 and BA Concorde.
