INFORMED BY AN EMPLOYEE OF KLM FLEET DEVELOPMENT: KLM is now very, very serious in achieving 747-8's intercontinental (pax version). The 747-8 is a possibilty for KLM because Boeing is offering a 747-8 combi version now. In the past Boeing only offered a full pax version and the combi version was no possibility at that moment. During the negociations between Boeing and KLM last weeks, Boeing also offered KLM the 787. The problem was that Boeing cannot deliver the 787 at the moment KLM will need the new aircraft.

Delivery dates and amounts of the 747-8's which (probably) will be delivered are unknown at this moment.

Why KLM reed the aircraft right now?
ISn't it possible to fly a little longer with the combi's?

Probably it was in the CISS this way, but the aircraft leaves Amsterdam as C-GEOJ

Given that it is just a rumour (and a very unrealistic one if you ask me), it better be posted in this topic: http://forum.scramble.nl/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=55049

Did I miss something? The 747-8M? I always thought no combi aircraft will be made again due to more strict regulations.
Is there a press release from Boeing about a 747-8 combi?

Best regards,
Arno

I didin't write dat KLM needs the new aircraft rigtht now. Because of raising fuel prices the past years the older 747-400's and MD11's are less efficient for KLM. KLM can fly the combi's longer but they will lower the annual profit. So the sooner, the better.

Apparently Skyliner is reporting some significant imminent fleet activity at Aer Lingus:

- 7 Embraer 195s to be acquired.
- 4 older 320s to leave before the new A320s arrive next year; going to Amsterdam Airlines.
- 1 A330 to leave the fleet without replacement.
So that'll mean that there are 4 old Aer Lingus A320's are going to AAN. Does anyone have more information?
From a VERY reliable source, I can tell you they are only roking on 2 airbusses, not 4. Their fleet will grow to four planes
can also someone confirm the EMB-195 story of Aerlingus and when will they be deliverd?
kind regards,

Without having to dig through 74 pages; is there any known info on the possibility that KLM might go to the 787 Dreamliner as a possible replacement for the MD11?

There is always a possibility, given a history perspective to KLM vs Boeing that will be even bigger.

The MD11 carries 285 pax max, the 787 250 / 290 (-8/-9 versions) so that will move equally. The consumptionsrates for the 787 are also way better than the MD11 (as they claim by Boeing) and other options like more A330 / B772 seem unlikely to as these planes don't fit in the best replacement requirements.

Troublemaker can become (AF) HQ if they would favor the A350 (but this is personal thinking) overall but the new deal from AF/KLM involves more planetypes then just the MD11 so a giant hussle of the fleet can also happen, the outcome will certainly give a better glimp of what to expect
