Arctic Thunder 2010 Elmendorf 31july/1 August 2010

Post by ronald »

This year on 31 July and 1 August, the bi-annual airshow Arctic Thunder was held on Elmendorf AFB in Alaska. The Wednesday before the show, a C-17 from Elmendorf crashed after take-off. It should practice the demo for the airshow. A few days it was uncertain, but they finally decided to let the airshow take place as a honour to the fallen crew. The C-17 demo in the schedule was replaced by a missing man formation of 4 F-22.
For a log, see the airshow section. Now the pictures (not much sunshine):

there was a lot of moist in the air

even the B-52 produced some vapor above the wings

The B-52 simulated a "bomb curtain". Great view, everything is bigger in Alaska!!

There was also a Alaska Joint Forces Demonstration (like the airpower demo in Holland) with 2 Chinooks
2 Blackhawks, 2 F-22 and 1 F-15C:

I hope you like them.

I do like them. Elmendorf is a rarely reported base so every picture is more than welcome. The Chinooks look good with the ski's mounted.

added some pictures of Fat Albert during this airshow. Gives a great memory, because on Saturday I was able to fly with Fat Albert during the airshow. after that, my motto is: Fat Albert Airlines, the best Airlines to fly with!!!

I agree with Roel. The Chinook pic is impressive! But also the composition of other pics is nice, like the Chinooks & the Eagles and the B-52 pic.

Thanks for sharing!
