A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
Browsing through my slides and b/w negatives I realised again that Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany is one of USAF's superbases. So I like to introduce this topic as a tribute to the men and women of Spang and the pilots/crews that visited the airbase over the years. So post your nice, rare, funny, stunning, beautiful pictures of planes taken at Spangdahlem. I'll do the kick off.
Cheers, Dick

Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
@Hans, yep we had a very nice basevisit on a sunny fridaymorning. Just as we took pictures of the Keflavik F-4 two F-4D's from Torrejon Air Base, Spain joint us at the visitors platform. I won't forget that visit ever!
@Roel, thanks for the pictures from your super basevisit with Hank the Knight. Wish I had a digital camera and good glass in 1978...

Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
@Stephan, thanks for the additions. I especially like F-4E 72139 with the blue striping under the cockpit!
@Roel, there's enough space here to add the other 1793 shots! With that quality no-one gets bored of them...

Re: A tribute to Spangdahlem Air Base
Beautiful pics of a beatiful base Dick!! I can imagine you have some warm feelings for Spangdalhem. I guess lots of people have some good/ bad meories to this base. I have some very good ones outof the 70 ties and 80 ties. And one from a very memorable day in 2007 . 15 March the 52 FW send 36 aircraft up for about 3 times. Roel Reijne and I were lucky to be on the right place on the right time.
The bad memories I have were cased by the weather.
Here some BW outof the 70 ties
Some colored ones by Hans Drost and Rick Versteeg
And the ones from this century (15-03-2007)

And two from me, taken at a day when the weather decided not to cooperate: March 31st, 2006. However, it still was a nice deployment:
