PMI/LEPA Palma de Mallorca 14-15-16 AUG
Spend a long weekend at PMI... Lots of variety this year... Excellent for shooting from the outside. Especially in the morning when 06r is in use for take-off... Just proceed to one of the two office buildings next to the runway and go to the parking on top of the roof. On the second one there is even a cafe with a terrace. Shots can be made with short zoom max 135mm for regionals like ATR of Dash on the runway. For shooting on the taxitrack behind you need a 200-300mm lens.
When 24R is in use the parking deck is only good for those aircraft vacating the runway on the 2nd highspeed intersection, which is about 50% of the traffic.
Another nice spot is the approach spot on 06L. Located in a nice park close to the sea.. easy to find... just follow the planes in the approach , or follow the coastline.. 200-300mmm is enough.
Busiest day used to be Saturday, this is now changed to sunday... about 15 aircraft in the queue for take off were seen
regularly... Saturdays a lot of Germans, English , Scandinavian. Sundays, a mix of everything with a lot of Italians, English, Germans, Russians, Czech, French. In fact a lot of variation.
Some highlights... with more uploads to follow..
YU-ANP.. still going strong ..still remember it when it was just delivered.....
VP-BVR Transaero B744
but nicer was... their TU214...
and the other side
Aeroflot Nord VP-BKT
Moscovia Airline VP-BFU
Yakutia Airlines VQ-BFG
Trawelfly I-STRE
Air Nostrum hybrid with Arik Air c/s Ec-LFU
Spains newest airline Alba Star EC-LAV
XL Germany D-AXLF
TUI FLY D-ATUD
Air Italy D-AGMR

Nice ones!
I especially like the ''Quite737'' titels on the Aviogenex engines.

I'm not into civil aircraft, but the colors on these photos look phantastic!
Regards,
Stephan
PS I can't help but wonder what a camouflaged Spanish Herc would have looked like with your equipment and in those light conditions....

Very nice (understatement) indeed Ton. I'm going there next week (a non spotting holiday) and to plan at least a 1/2 visit. Thanx for the tips on locations. Is the spot halfway the runway outside the airport still in use ?
Re: PMI/LEPA Palma de Mallorca 14-15-16 AUG
2 RNLAF PC-7's had a weekend stop at that field during that weekend and departed the 16th. Do you by any chance have a picture of them?
