Prior to an interesting few days in the south of France, we (drs. Stipjes and I) decided to start our spotting journey in the Balkans.
Here are some pics I took in Albania last week:
Hope you like them

Very cool pics, not something we see every day. If you have more don't hesitate to post them.
Kind regards

Ahh, the well-known Cave Migs.
Very nice and interesting shots, I wasn't aware of the Albanian Air Force having B206s and UH-1s.

Ex-Italian Army, delivered some 4 or 5 years ago I think.Gietje wrote:Ahh, the well-known Cave Migs.

Where did you see the H-5, it is the one that used to be in the hangar of Tirana, right?

The H5 was pulled from the hangar a few years ago. In April 2007 the Albanians swore the H5 could not be moved due to rusty brakes or wheels.

Ah ok, thanks, in 2006 it was in that hangar indeed. Great to see it outside now, much better for the most beautiful plane they have ever had (I know, just my opinion)!

Here are some off mine,
A few km's away from the now closed airbase you find the entrance of the Gjader cave. The runway is still intact at the airbase but overgrown by grass.
inside are 31 fighters
At the old (mostly gone) former Tirana Airport you find the ministry of Health and the ministry of Interior. They fly Bolkow's, Agusta's and Alouettes
At Kucove is another big storage. One part of the ac are stored at the airbase and another part further from the base outside the caves.
The Antonovs where retired a week before. They must leave the hangar soon to make room. So they will probably rott away.
From the base there is a long road to the caves
These aircraft had been inside for years. They are recently placed outside for draining out the oil.
At Farke the flying units are based
the is some activity
but watch where you walk.....

Very nice photo-report!
It seems that some of these "relics" could be made airworthy with a few overhaul work!!!
