A good evening tonight when I spotted this old lady:
Farnair Fokker F27 HA-FAD overhead
Have a look at the exhaust pipes leaving a black trail on the wings.

Tonight's Thai 916 brought us HS-TGP at level 380 heading 267. Special retro colour scheme.
Due to the daylight saving period we're now able to spot Al Nippon flight 206 JA8962
today at level 310 heading 049.

On sunday 23 may I captured this Qantas Airbus A380 flying high over Ommen. I think it's the London Heathrow - Sydney flight. It was heading west to east. Anyone for the registration?

I really cannot give you any tips. Just check the position of the moon and if there's any traffic around, cross your fingers and hope it will fly through it!
However keep one finger left to push the button otherwise you will miss it anyhow. With an average airspeed of 900-1000 km/h it's just a blink of an eye.
If you live nearby a busy airway you could position yourself in a way the chance of a moonshot will increase. No doubt if you keep trying, one day
you'll get one!
Good luck!
