Military or Civil????????
Not the best picture but, a nice surprise during my two day visit at Nellis AFB in April.
Hawker Beechcraft evaluated its factory funded AT-6B production representative test vehicles (PRTV) during Joint Expeditionary Force Experiment (JEFX 10-03).

Nice catch! Not too long ago there was also a Super Tucano at Nellis.
Too bad USAF is probably gonna kill the project...

Guess it is the "Imminent Fury" project!?!SquAdmin wrote:Nice catch! Not too long ago there was also a Super Tucano at Nellis.

The Tucano solution is not fired yet, as the AT-26B seems too underpowered to be used as a COIN aircraft.
Re: AT-6B at Nellis AFB (JEFX)
No, that's the Navy program and it's still rolling. The USAF also initiated a search for a COIN aircraft but last week the USAF commander said that a dedicated aircraft is not needed (current inventory can fulfill this role).TAZZ wrote:Guess it is the "Imminent Fury" project!?!

Re: AT-6B at Nellis AFB (JEFX)
Found a nice story about the program in the AirForces Monthly.
A second aircraft has also flown and is powered by a Pratt & Whitney PT6A-68D which offers almost 50% more power. The USAF was planned to buy 100 Light Attack Armed Reconnaissance (LAAR) Aircraft. Now they are committed to only 16 Airframes.

According to info I could find on the USAF website and others, the LAAR program is still alive and kicking. For more info check:

Re: AT-6B at Nellis AFB (JEFX)
I don't know when they will officialy kill the program, but cmdr Schwartz leaves little room for doubt:

So like Bam-bam said, the need is reduced to 15 aircraft which will only be used for training.

"training of foreign pilots", that can only mean the AT-6B then.
