Chile 2010 (the route to the FIDAE and FIDAE)

Post by Marco »

HI,

this year a trip was organized to the FIDAE. So as I wanted to go last time already, I decided to go to this years event.

When I got the final details I noticed that Joris Heeren and myself were booked on an earlier flight than the main part of the group. So soon we decided to go around Madrid and visit the mil. We started at Cuatro Vientos where the 3 of us (somebody else joined us) only read the numbers. Then of to Getafe. At Getafe the 01 black An-26 Russian AF was seen as well as the below:

When we saw the Beluga was about to leave, we decided to go to the other end of the runway to catch her in de air. However by the time is was about to take off, we were send away by the MP. So of to our last visit Torrejon. When we reached the spot to read the number is was getting dark and we did hear the Hornets start up for a nightly mission.

Than it was time to eat (we had only breakfast around 07:00hrs) around 18:00hrs and to head back to the airport to catch up with the rest.

the one on the pole is officially the 724 or 725 (needs to be confirmed still)

it is indeed the 903 in scrap condition. they were scrapping it in the inside already today.

The registration on the F-5 is on the rear fuselage.
Even from very close by it is difficult to see.

Yesterday there were ten F-5s, today only one is left.

as this weekend for the main group was scheduled wrecks and relics (a.k.a. scrap), I decided to try my luck elsewhere, even in a different country (which caused some confusion with the customs agent when coming back). I decided to go to Buenos Aires-Jorge Newbery Aeroparque. The alarm clock went off on 05:00hrs for the 07:00hrs flight. Flight back (with the same colors as a boiled lobster) was at 19:00hrs. So now at 01:30hrs LT  some pics straight the compact flash. Some spotting details. they are perfect. You need about 18mm (with crop factor 1,5 on the taxiway for a MD80. Anything bigger and you will miss a bit of the plane. The fence is perfect as you will see.
