Finally, the Mirage F1CR will leave Reims to Mt-de-Marsan
Whooh, that's an unexpected move! This will start when the first squadron disbands at Reims?

According to my info,

The 1st Sqn at Reims will disband in 2009 and the 2nd Sqn will now move to MdM in 2010. Confirmation of this should come out in September.

Maybe Tintin has something to add?

DJ

Nothing to add about the F1CR, their move to Mt-de-Marsan has been announced for 2009 or 2010.

About the military transport fleet, all C-160 and C-130 should be deployed to Evreux, while Orléans will only operate A-400M.

Hi all! Especially to Tintin;)

some guesses abt ab921 closure and relocation to Mont Verdun.

So, thus it looks like that all coordination for air operations will be conducted by some special and hopefuly new structure, located in Lyon Mont-Verdun (where the adla"s CNOA is situated). Having, I believe, rightly stronger structure and environment in Mont Verdun than the similar one in Taverny, the decision was to accomply CNOA and CFAS into the solid one IOT improve C2 capabilities for subordinated air assets. At least, it would be logically right...

Am I right?

Any exact info abt CFAS air bases closure/structure change? Actually, one sq equipped with Rafale F3 is being created at St.Dizier, simultaniously, only 2 sqs are to be left in CFAS organica. So, are all of them to be converted for Rafale F3?And does it mean that ab133 will be converted to nuclear strike air base?

Thanks to all

Hi Mysticstar,

About the CFAS, the two air bases with the nuclear capability will be Istres and St-Dizier, with Rafales F3 and the ASMPA missile.
Luxeuil keeps its nuclear vocation until Istres and St-Dizier are fully operational.

So, Nancy (BA133) will only fly Mirage 2000D (Mud).

Tintin,

One last question about the list of base closures:

To my delight Orange-Caritat is no longer mentioned in that list (they even get more personel in the close future!). Does that mean that EC02.005 wil not move to Istres and remain at Orange as long as they operate the oldest Mirage 2000C's of the fleet?

Hi Erik,

For the moment, EC 2/5 Ile de France will stay at Orange as what we call "transfo squadron" on Mirage 2000.
The very ageing Mirage 2000 C should be replaced (in a far future???) by Rafales.

Correct me please if I am wrong, but I thought EC1/5 Vendée was disbanded last year (2007)?! I remember the special colours on ship 35/5-NL only too well...

Of course, it has been disbanded on june 2007, and part of its aircraft have been sold to Brazilian Air Force.

According to Colmar AB commander, the runway will be closed next summer, stopping air activities on BA 132.
Half of EC 1/30 aircraft will move to Reims, and others should been stored at Chateaudun.

Last news about Adla future:

2010/2011: Mirages 2000-5 of Dijon (EC 1/2) to Luxeuil.
Then, Dijon will only operate Alphajets (EE 5/2).

EC 1/4 disbanded at Luxeuil and EC 2/4 will move to Istres.

Will this also mean that the Mirage 2000N fleet is drastically reduced over the next two years? They only entered service in 1988, it would be really sad to see them go already...

No, EC 2/4 and its Mirage 2000N will remain until a second Rafale squadron for nuclear dissuasion is created.

Yes, but that will only be one squadron with the Mirage 2000N. One squadron will not operate 80 odd planes, or will they?
