SBS / Radio logs
Forum rules
Mode S / SBS and radio logs, airfield specific, are allowed, but always state your source, mode S / SBS or air traffic conversations. These logs can be placed in the "day topic" so a separate Mode S / SBS radio log is not necessary |

Re: ETAR 14-03-2010
Indeed SBS is not 100% sure. Therefor it is essential to mention the source of your information in your log. By putting "livereport" in your log people assume you are actually there, which is not the case. Mentioning SBS and radio conversations as a credit gives a better indication of the reliability of a log.

Re: ETAR 14-03-2010
@Thijs (mod): perhaps it's better to have a SBS area in this forum (in the Radio Activity area?) for these kind of logs?
In that way, you can keep the RS topic clean (with eyeball confirmations only as regards to the logs).

Oscar

In that case you can scrab the whole RS topic. Because than almost nothing should be posted here. Most of the die-hard Ramstein spotters keep all the moves for there own.Oscar01 wrote:@Thijs (mod): perhaps it's better to have a SBS area in this forum (in the Radio Activity area?) for these kind of logs?

I just would like to show others what is going on in Ramstein.
But when you don't like it than i stop with it. No problem for me.
Cheers,
Eric

Re: ETAR 14-03-2010
As all Ramstein movements overhere from SBS are confirmed at 140.900, this is to my opinion the right topic, as this is a ramstein freq. Beside that, many of the movements here are confirmed afterwards. So please keep them coming Eric. If every airfield has the possibilities of following like Ramstein and Spangdahlem have, a lot more would be known. BE HAPPY THAT ALL INFORMATION IS SHARED instead of keeping it for yourself and making a selection of what could be classified/non classified flights!!!! Last week even a flightplan of a f/v C-17 was last minute changed and with thanks to Eric, SBS and 140.9 we know where te plane went... Ramstein indeed.

Re: ETAR 14-03-2010
we have nothing against sbs and radio logs. As stated above they can be of great valua. But as this is a new kind of spotting we have to find a way how to deal with it. Eric shows the possibilities of sbs and internet radio and he makes well use of it. But one of the disadvantages is that you depend on the information some else provides. The information is not from first hand or in other words seen with your own eyes. So there could be mistakes in the information which is provided. By mentioning the source sbs radio log or a combination you state that their could be some errors within the log. But the sbs and radio logs are still a good indication what is going on at ramstein. But keep in mind that there still could be some errors within the report and none of the movements is confirmed by any person. And i have to say this is a relative new phenomena and it can be of good use but with the right manual.
To Eric, don't hesitate to make a report but state clearly if it is a sbs radio log or actual sightings.

Re: SBS / Radio logs
And what if it is confirmed? Will a confirmation show up in this topic or the regular topic?
By seperating the SBS / Radio Logs and the actual logs you only make the situation more complicated. You have to look in more topics to get a complete overview what is going on. Now we already have 3! topics about the same day! Not an ideal situation....
In our opinion the most important is that you mention your source. And SBS / Radio logs will / can transfer in actual logs when confirmed.

Re: SBS / Radio logs
Miles, first of all there is only discussion about the SBS and Radio logs. A decision how to handle those logs is not made. This topic is only made for discussion, not for putting SBS / radio logs! A seperate topic could be a solution, no one said it is the solution. A decision what the best solution is, has not been made. So putting your logs over here doesn't make sense.
Untill now it is appreciated if you state your source, so read of by yourself, or via SBS / Radio.
