Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |
Kyrgyzstan
Hi all, visited Kyrgyzstan last year to instruct fire fighters in the town of Kant. Although I'm not involved in spotting aircraft anymore....I just couldn't resist checking out the airbase. The An-12 is a hit and run drive by "shooting" as I didn't care to check out the local prison. (As a matter of fact; you don't wanna check out the public toilets either!) Also witnessed some flying activity of Su-25's and checked out the gate-guard at the Russian quarters in Kant.

Hi Otto,
There ya go, it's been a long time...my aircraft recognition is getting rusty, thanks for the correction on the Antonov!
Will post some more later on.

Re: Kyrgyzstan
I also was in Kyrgyzstan back in 2008, this Mig is in front of the Military Academy in Bishkek, when I took the picture of the pilot statue some military guy came out and started swearing at me...at least....that's what I think. Decided to leave then
More where that came from, stay tuned.

Re: Kyrgyzstan
Last ones for tonight, on my way to Tokmok, Kyrgyzstan 2008. Mig 23 on a pole, interesting as Kygyzstan never operated Mig 23's!

These aircraft (clearly visible on Google Earth: http://maps.google.nl/maps?ll=42.842878 ... &t=h&hl=nl" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) are stored at a scrapyard near the old Frunze airport in Bishkek. Pictures taken in may 2008.

Re: Kyrgyzstan
These An-2's are stored at Przhevalsk (Karakol) "Przhevalsk" lat=42.507778, lon=78.409721 , the An-28's which are visible on Google were gone. Spoke to the director of this airfield and he told me that it's his task to keep this airfield operational in case the president "might" wanna use it!
