Wow Jeroen, that's a great shot, sharp enough for me! And again there's this sci-fi-movie-style special effect around the plane.

Question (sorry for slightly off-topic): you often see Hornets performing a high-speed pass creating a cone-shaped cloud around them. In the picture above, there is no such cloud but is the strange effect in the air around the plane similar to that cloud? And is the absence of that cloud here due to lower humidity maybe?

Hi Hans,

thanks for the explanation. I guess the shockwave in Jeroen's picture is due to the same effect but without the condensation. I guess you hardly ever see this non-cloudy effect on picture, as most situations will not have a mountainous background like here.

Hah, just spotted this topic... this was a bit unlucky Axalp for me I prepared few months for the "trip to the other side" but I ended up sick down in the village I only managed to get to Brau on Wednesday and shoot some mediocre ones:













But check out my pictures from Axalp 2008, they're bit better

On the other hand, there's one picture I eagerly awaited for last few years... my new photocrew


(shame on you people driving cars up the valley these guys made it all the way up from the skilift to Brau, then all the way down to the village - and were still jumping and willing more all shortly before 3rd birthday )
