Delhi (VIDP/DEL) - 2009

Post by sniper 1 »

hi all
Finally my boss send me to Delhi/stayed in the Radisson near the airport first in rm 452 later in rm 472.
Lucky for me no fog(last couple off days fog is heavy and flight schedules are up side down)and dep rwy was 28 with arr.rwy the new 29(sometimes the used 28 to land.In the Radisson you have to be on the 4th floor oherwise you will see trees.
Distance to the rwy 28 is approx. 1.6km
The problem is if you are in room 452 most Spicejet and some other remote parked a/c will take a entrance to the runway behind the Air Force hangar. For that reasen rooms 470 till 472 will have a better view.
The new Terminal which gone a be a mixed terminal (domestic and int)should be open before oct 2010 (commonwealth games)and is located besides the new rwy 29 and than maybe the new runway will be more used for depatures because of taxitimes.
In two days i logged the following a/c

2 shots from me of the 707s @ DEL

They seem stored to me and totally unflyable

Have been doing some research on these aircraft.

Just thought I'd point out that from the above photo, you can see that K2900 is in a poor state, while K2899 (on the right) is looking comparitively gleaming!

Photos of this apron are fairly scarce (for obvious reasons), but what they tend to show is that K2900 is always parked up in the corner, whereas K2899 is often in different places - and sometimes not even present. Google Earth historical imagery goes some way to confirming this, however the latest images are not particularly up-to-date.

This suggests to me that K2899 is in fact still active - probably in its intended ELINT role, hence hard facts are hard to find.

In fact, looking again at that photo, you can see the Side-looking type radar pods on the lower forward fuselage of the aircraft on our right - just infront of the wing-root. The USAF's "Snoopy" C-135 aircraft sometimes have similar fairings attached at that position.
