Technically, that's 1960's stuff, but you won't hear me complaining! :thumb:
Would I have liked to walk along that static, with F-101 and F-102 next to the Hun. Thanks for sharing!

Rob,
That DH Otter sure has unusual markings! Did any other aircraft type operate with that design? Super shots!

Eagle,
Beautiful shot of the YC-15. Looks like that was taken during an alternative engine evaluation, judging by the large #1 nacelle. Do you recall if the same type powerplant was in positon #4? Interesting aircraft, along with the YC-14. Both may be sitting in the desert still, for the last 25 years or so. Makes it hard for me to understand the USAF C-27J situation.

EB-57B at Westover AFB, MA (KCEF) 15 September 1972. Unit unknown.

Tom, this was 1 of 2 Belgian-Dutch Otters for an Antarctic/South Pole expedition, the marking looks like a compass to me, with the old Navy livery (red/white).
But I was only a simple planespotter taking snapshots then (and still am) and do not know every detail.

And even more funny to see that they are still operational! Can't say that of most of the planes in this topic.
Something else that strikes me on this page: how the design of a 70's experimental cargo plane can be found back in the USAF's (world's?) most modern transport aircraft.

More great shots there.

Here is a Douglas C-9A Nightingale from the 375 AAW at Boston (KBOS) on 2 March 1974

This shot below has a nice story. I wrote to Raytheon Corp., the operator of the aircraft and asked if I could visit for the purpose of photographing this very aircraft. I had seen it at Hanscom Field, MA (KBED) several times from a long distance, but could never get near it. Their response was very pleasant, and on 29 January 1976 they towed the Skyknight out of the hangar for me, and unfolded the wings! I have a nice B&W sequence of the wings coming down that I must make into an animated GIF one of these days.

There were a number of Douglas F-10s used for testing in the 1970s, I believe Raytheon had several that were in this c/s, and I photographed a dark blue one in 1972. It wasn't Navy blue, as it was actually metallic lacquer!

:shocked!: Wow....your picture collection is a real treasure chest and you just pulled out another gem. I never knew that there were Skynights (Skyknights?) still flying into the seventies. In fact, you hardly come across pictures of Skyknights (Skynights?) anywhere. Not the prettiest jetfighter around, but a pretty cool one to my opinion.
