Volkel airbase & Volkel village - 1st December 2009
German Tonka out of the pattern for a touch and go. Thereafter rtb Buchel
One of the 2 Sharks coming in again shortly after take off
Burst, straight onto downwind unfortunately
Anvil1 intial 2000ft then overhead, damn...
Another #$%&^$%@# for an overhead break
Anvil2, same procedure and getting better
Sting1/2 of wich one shot the magic arrow
The second wave did not depart, probably due to intense ground fog so shortly before 21:00 lt King P. and myself called it a day.

The last is :INCREDIBLE!!!!!! never seen a pic like this before. Absolute top. The moon is great , you caught the F-16 at the right moment at the right angle to the moon: great job!!!!!!! Go to the KLu with it. The others are also very very very nice. Thanks for sharing.

Hello,
I am glad most of the folks enjoyed the pictures.
As for the questions about setting and techniques; around ISO640 and shutter above 1000 all in manual. Just aim your camera at the moon and shoot a few test shots to match the result you like to most.
I found that in making these. The positioning part was the toughest thing to do. It's all about knowing wich way they are flying, taking off, recovering and a very big dose of luck. Landings with the moon in the back are more easy. However this was a hole different ballgame as they were flying Rwy06. I saw a few opportunities around the airfield and chose for this one. In the end it's all about standing a few meters left or right to make a hit.
