Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |
Shahjah 19-11
HI,
on the last day of the Dubai show we were expected on Shahjah. After some minor troubles (group was too big according to the police), we were released on the aprons. The following was seen (is this special enough big brother?):

Re: Shahjah 19-11
Great pictures all!
I like the mix of European, American and Russian Aircraft and airlines in the middle east!
Can't wait to go to Dubai!
Kind Regards,
Jeffrey.

Re: Shahjah 19-11
How much do you pay nowadays to spot and take photos at Sharjah airport and by average how many planes (parked and active) do you see on a day?

Re: Shahjah 19-11
Ger, visit costs 1000 dirham. Just look at SHJ website for more info. I saw 21 Il-76s on Nov 13 (Friday), 5 of which moved, and probably about a dozen non-ABY airliners from 8:15 till 17:15. The 2 hour lunch is nonsense: you can stay on the ramp by the fire brigade and eat your sandwich or whatever. I did go out for an hour into the terminal bldg to have a bite. All the old props were gone except for 4L-RAS, An-24 and EX-169, An-12. Happy hunting!
Re: Shahjah 19-11
That is Euro's 181.00 for about 50 airplanes except the locals and excluding a lunch. Quit a lot of money, compared to the amount they asked in the past. It seems the number of airplanes at this field is becoming less as well.CJ wrote:Ger, visit costs 1000 dirham. Just look at SHJ website for more info. Re: Shahjah 19-11
You're right. It is a lot of money. On the other hand it is becoming harder and harder to find an airport were you can find 21 IL-76's at a time. Even in Russia this isn't common anymore.
Re: Shahjah 19-11
Beautifull shot of the KLM Cargo Marco!
Re: Shahjah 19-11
it is a lot of money indeed, but it is including the lunch (which I advise you not to take). We waited for about 1hr in the terminal for our lunch which consisted of 2 sandwiches, 1 bottle of water, 1 can of orange juice and 1 pizza. However when I will have a stopover in Dubai, I will most certainly go again.
During this time we missed the inbound of de Tu-204C, IL-76 and a (boring) Air Europa A330 ops for Finnair.
We had about the same result as CJ stated earlier. You will also see some SQ freighters (we had 4 and all in old colors)
Hopla, yes very nice to have a MP operated KL 74 in the desert. Is something else then one with grass on the background....
