Hej again!
Yesterday the train took me to the City of Linköping again. Once in a while I somehow feel I just have to go there. It is also great of course when a city has two airports with both military activity! Yesterday was a day spent near the SAAB Factory, located at the civil airport Linköping-SAAB (ESSL). The weather was nothing at all to write about, except for an hour when there were no planes to photograph . But nevertheless, I ended up with a few interesting shots. I had to use ISO 800, large apertures and low shutterspeeds. The nice thing at this airport is, that all SAAB aircrafts taking off are making test flights and often carry special loads or are from foreign airforces/costumers. So this time I got the first of two Thai Airforce Saab340's with Erieye radar!! Unfortunately, it didnt come back untill 16:15 when it was already way too dark to take photo's here in Sweden... Hope you enjoy these SAAB birds too!
#1 OK not a Saab but first the daily flight from A'dam arrived
#2 Nicely loaded Gripen comes back after a short mission
#3 It was only 14:30 but already rather dark...
#4 The Thai AF Saab went out for a 2hour long flight!
#5 One other flight of the '828' which lasted only 5min, but with nice afterburner!
#6 Some nice colours appeared in the overcasted sky during sunset
#7
It was wet and slightly cold. But I did enjoy it. Comments and critiques are welcome!
Ha det bra!

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

Great pictures
May I ask about the photopositions?
Especially for the last one and the Gripen with the red stable in the background!
Greetings to Sweden

Thanks for the nice replies!
About the spots for the photos:
All pics are taken at the beginning of the runway 29, which is usually the one in use for landing (take offs are performed from the other side, rwy 11). It is on the south side of the runway along the old E4: road 35 (Åtvidabergvägen).
There are two sort of bushes/tree groups from where you have a bit higher position and can see over the fence. Its about 10m from the fence. Good spots for landing shots. Take offs are a bit too high.
The last photo is taken at the platform which lies the most to the east. Its just next to the SAAB factory hangars. There is a large parking lot (not the one with the Draken, the next one) and a hill to the fence from where you can have a look on the platform. Its sneaky but not impossible to take a photo. When you drive on the 35 road you can often see the tails of the aircraft on the platform.
Hope this helps for something!
See you later!
