Re: Mobile users
Howdy girls and boys,
Have started working on this lightweight skin. Of course I 'loaned' an existing skin which I will adjust to a "Scramble look" over the next weeks.
But tonight at least I got the basic functionality working which does the automatic switch to this lightweight skin when you visit with a mobile device - so no need to make a secondary "mobile" account in which you specific specify this skin (a solution found on many other forums).
Next big challenge will be "deleting" the images from the posts.....
But now off for a weekend aircraft watching
Hans

Re: Mobile users
Hi,
Long way from finished yet, but already in a stage I would like to hear from people who would like to do some testing. Just send me a PM when have some spare time over the next couple of weeks - and a mobile device off course !!
With a bit of luck we then can put this in production before my holidays

Re: Mobile users
Hi Hans,
iPhone app please!!
Seriously, is this intended as a mobile website accessible via a mobile webbrowser, or an actual application?
On the iphone the only hurdle of the regular sote is downloading the photos on the messageboard. OK zooming in on text takes a bit more time than reading through a normal mobile website but otherwise not a lot of hard work...

Re: Mobile users
I strongly disagree for an iPhone app.
I have a HTC, as many others (or other smart phones), and can't use these apps.
So, when an iPhone app is made, it's for a limited group of users only, while a mobile website is accessible for everyone with mobile internet.
I really think the best way to start with is just a mobile site, to reach the largest amount of users from the beginning. An iPhone app can be looked at later.
But, that's my opinion of course
Bye,
Eric

Re: Mobile users
Downloading pictures has nothing to do with a mobile version of this MB. Still the pictures are around 750kb and still you have to download those pictures with a mobile connection which hasn't that much speed compared to your home connection.toppiero wrote:Indeed! plz make an scramble iphone app. it's really though to downlaod the pics in the messagebord fast

Re: Mobile users
Hi,
Only a lightweight version of this Message Board will be build, especially geared towards mobile users, but still an ordinary html webpage.
Remember that currently the amount of visitors to this site with a mobile device (iphone, htc, palm, whatever) is less then 1%!
Probably/hopefully this will raise with the introduction of this mobile variant of the message board, but still are iphone's only a small percentage of those mobile devices, so for me not relevant to make a special apps for them, also because the iphones can make use of this lightweight version.
Regards,
Hans

Re: Mobile users
Hans,
just one thing, can you make all the images as small clickable thumbs? It's hell to open up a link in the blind!

Re: Mobile users
Hi,
And besides, the overall opinion, as expressed by the people who reacted earlier in this topic, was to use those links.
For any other remarks, please continue in the announcement topic http://www.scramble.nl/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=56582" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Technically this would be possible, but this would put too much pressure on the performance of the server (with which we already have issues...).Andras wrote:just one thing, can you make all the images as small clickable thumbs? It's hell to open up a link in the blind!
