Forum rules
This is the forum to share your recent aviation photos with the rest of the community, being photos not older than six months at the moment of topic opening. Theme-based topics, not about recent events, should go into the sub-forum. Although we will not screen beforehand, we reserve the right to delete any images, especially if clearly unsharp or otherwise low in quality. For more information on how to upload you images, check this post. In topic titles, please use airfield names in stead of just codes, and be clear about what kind of photos your viewers can expect (e.g. CIV/MIL, location etc.). Finally, bring any photo criticism understandable and to the point, not cynical or offensive! Simultaneously, do not feel offended by criticism per se, but simply explain your motives, taste et cetera, or ignore if you wish so. |
First Post On Scramble: A Wonderful Day At The MACH Loop
Hi all,
I am new to the forum and thought that I would introduce myself to the forum by posting some pictures I shot at the MACH Loop a few weeks back. I hope you like them.
At shutter speed 250.
At shutter speed 125. Aaatta boy.
Friendly pilots.
Posing Puma.
Lots of French machinery in this photograph.
That was August 11th. An insane day at the loop. 41 passes in all (if you count a two-ship pass as 2 passes, then we're looking at 70+ passes), 0900 - 1830. I filled up two 16GB CF Cards. I've got plenty more shots from the day if anyone is interested.

Whoopee ! What an introduction. Welcome at Scramble and please keep those great shots coming. Whales has been a hot topic in Holland for the past few months, so any "low-flying-food" will be highly appreciated.
All the best from Holland,

Well, let me serve some more low-flying food for those of us on broadband connections.... thank you very much for looking. I hope you like the pictures.
Notice the co-pilot throwing crazy hand signs...
I wonder what the sheep are thinking...
What's wrong with this picture?
Les Francais sont arrive maintenant (or something close to that)

Welcome on the board!
Feel free to post more. Low flying pictures are always very welcome, although it might result in more urging to go to Wales...
Oh yes!NFLineast wrote: I hope you like them.

Re: First Post On Scramble: A Wonderful Day At The MACH Loop
Welcome, and goodbye! I quit....
So you just occasionally take pictures of airplanes?.. Yeah...It really does show, but no worries, everyone starts like this. Maybe if you tried some more attractive locations and less green grass, it really makes a dull impression you know. You know what a really good location is for starting some "aviation photography" ? Try the runway of your local airfield. You can make some nice take-off and landing pictures there, with lots of other stuff to see, like runway lights, beacon-poles, control towers and so on... Not that engine heat, blurry props, wing vapors or condensation like in your pics......... . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Greetz, and hahahahaha..(straight-jacket...woohhohohoohihihihi..gnagna gnagna)
p.s. Aaah...You just missed the F-15's, what a bummer dude.... (iiiiiiii...Second straight-jacket )
p.s.2 No shiit, very cool work! Keep them coming!!!!

Well, that's it....I just deleted ALL my own aviation photos, because compared to these action shots mine suddenly seemed sleep-evokingly boring...
...incredible photos, now we need MORE!!!

Great pictures!
If I may ask, what kind of equipment did you use? (Helps me decide to save up for a trip, or new equipment, or both)

Re: First Post On Scramble: A Wonderful Day At The MACH Loop
Wow, this certainly seems like a very, very kind forum. Thank you very much for the nice messages.
As for equipment, these photographs were shot handheld with a Nikkor 400/2.8 on a Nikon D3X. Converted in Capture One and edited in Photoshop CS4. Whether to invest in a trip or in equipment is a matter of personal preference and finance, but if finance is not an issue do both. But I'd say do the trip regardless of what equipment you've got. The loop is an amazing nature experience in one of the most beautiful natural reserves I have ever been to. It's rough and untouched and everything feels old. Add to that the thrill of the excitement and expectation. But be prepared for days with no passes at all, known as "blanks".
A 40+ pass day is a once, perhaps twice a year type deal, and you never know when they're going to happen - I was just lucky. Typically, on a very good day you'll get around 20 passes. I did a 3 day trip in June and got 3 passes on the first day, 4 passes on the second day, and 3 passes on the third day. 3 weeks ago was a 4 day trip and in the 4 days I got 1, 41, 0, 21 passes.
BTW, I meant to add that all of these pictures are taken on the same day. They are not different crops of the same shots. I came back with 480 usable pictures after deleting duds. Truly an insane day. My friend, Stuart, had 900 frames in his camera at the end of the day.....
