Hi guys,
I may be tempted to buy a new hand held scanner to bring along to airbases during visits. My first thoughts went out to the Yupiteru MVT-7100, but I don't know if these are still in production and if they can handle the current frequency structure.
So now my question is: Which scanner do you guys advise me to buy these days ?
Thanks for your help,
Iwan
Which new scanner should I buy ?

An Yupiteru 7100 is a great scanner (as you could have seen today ). As far as I know it's not possible to buy it new, but I'm sure Marktplaats has some and not that expensive. I bought mine in 2006 for 289 euros (new).
It can handle both VHF and UHF and you don't have to worry about the step size.
Good luck.

Uniden UBC3500XLT - 225 euro, software Butel ARC3500-PRO incl. cable - 65 euro (don't forget to buy this), Leather case - 39 euro.
The best at the moment.

I'm also considering the 3500. Do you have personal experience with it? How sensitive is it?

A bit outdated though. Most links are not working anymore.Spine24 wrote:There was already a topic about this, advise you buyers to look here for some tips:

A aor5500 is the best option, had a mvt7100 and it was very good too but the aor is better.

Hi guys,
Thanks for all your advise. I have just gotten myself a Uniden UBC3500XLT, offered here by Frank. Now all I have to do is program the beast and start listening.
Cheers,
Iwan (who hasn't listened to airband radio since 1988)

Oi Iwan!
It's "welcome back in scannercountry" then. You were lost but now you're found....
It offers good fun AND most of all functionality @ the fence!
I myself have the Yupiteru MVT7100 and it has never let me down. I bought if (via Marktplaats) from some guy about 8 years ago for 400 gulden, the good old gulden-days! He listened to mobile phones or something and apparantly got bored of it.....right!! The thing was one year old, so I was verrrry happy with the deal. All the blue and black marks around & on the buttons were still there.....Allthough not produced anymore and a generation older, still one of the best!
Hope you will "wear out" your new scanner in good health!!!
Groetjes & enjoy listening,
Jos.
