New book: Airfield Guides - Western Europe 2009/2010

Our second publication of this year has now arrived: "Airfield Guides - Western Europe 2009/2010".

This is a new publication, containing 240 full colour pages with airfield guides of all major civil airfields and all military airfields, apart from some glider airfields in Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Apart from presenting these Airfield Guides online we now have them available in a book. A book that should be on the packing list of each and every spotting trip to be undertaken in Western Europe. Why a book? We felt that there was a demand for such a publication obviously. Looking at ourselves, how sophisticated our car navigation or pda may be, most of us still use a print out of the online guides of the country they are visiting.
And as an extra bonus, this book contains some 10 to 15% more guides for the countries covered then the online version!!!

As I said in a previous message yesterday - after having seen the Airfield Guide at the scramble booth in Volkel - the description of the FAF Colmar-Meyenheim BA 132 comes with the map of what I thought out of my memory is Clermont-Ferrand-Aulnat RAP. I suggest you open the online Meyenheim map to the public so that any buyers can print and insert it in their books...

The map for Clermont Ferrand has been used twice, once correctly with Clermont Ferrand itself, and once with Colmar.

Ik heb het boek ook gistern gekocht. Ziet er goed uit, alleen ik mis wel iets: een kaartje van het land met daarop het overzicht van welk veld waar (ongeveer) ligt.
Misschien een idee om zoiets alsnog (in PDF bijvoorbeeld) uit te geven zodat je dat in het boek kan bewaren?

Are all West European countries represented and did you omit the glider fields for the above countries, or are only Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Switzerland and the United Kingdom in the book?

I'm very interested in this book, but if Spain's not in, it makes less sense for me.

There might be in the future, yes. But that will take at least another year, and probably longer. Our coverage of that area is far less complete than the presently published one was when this project was started, and even that meant more work than we like... (but we had a very persistent project manager ).

Colmar will be closed in the very near future so no problem there

I really like the book. If there will be a future release could it be fitted with a hard(er) cover? Since this book will be an important tool during trips it will be treated as such and a hard cover could extent its life. Further nothing but praise, it's really a must-have.

But on a more serious note; a hard cover would make the book even more expensive, not only for producing it, but also postage and packing (because larger and heavier).
