Prague-Ruzyne LKPR 31-05-2009

Post by Boudewijn van Oirschot »

I went to the first time ever to the Czech Republic. I expected a very poor country but I was really suprised from what I have seen... I am in love in Czech Republic :)

Back to business...
First the pictures of my departure with KLM PH-OFJ. Thanks to the very kind flight attendants who gave me a window seat only for departure :)
Image

Very early departure, just one early bird at the Polderbaan.
Image

Never seen this company before, along with loads of other airlines at PRG...
Image

Finally my first Smartwings.. It ceased operations to Amsterdam a couple of years ago.
Image

And my first Norwegian as well :o
Image

I really like Dash aircraft! Again, a new one for me.
Image

Then it started raining, so we went to our hotel to drop our luggage... I knew we had airport view in this hotel. However, I think it is not too bad if this is your view:
Image

Too bad Fischer Air went bankrupt as the owner went into politics :stick:
Image

After the heavy shower we went downtown (pix will follow later) We returned just on time to see this beauty:
Image

New and old colours. I think the name CSA in the triangle will vanish soon to make it Czech Airlines...
Image

More to follow soon!

Indeed, currently it is Travel Service which is operating for SkyEurope. Smartwings won't be often at Amsterdam right, so I am glad I got OK-SWU en SWV since it are very clean colours :)

Just one jumbojet in Prague. Never seen it though :)

Along with Travel Service O2, this plane has a stunning livery...

Nice pics.
How are the spotting possibilities at Prague? Did you have any trouble with the police?
Kind regards

They are pretty fine, sure! Take a look here: http://www.planes.cz/lite/PRGspot.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just take a passport with you to identify yourself in case of. Taking pictures around the airport is absolutely not prohibited despite there are any signs.

Thank you for the answer and the link.
The reason I asked about the police was because I know Czech police is not always friendly to foreigners.
Kind regards

I think that is because of the worse English they speak. More Czech people have these problems because Czechoslovakia was a part of the Sovjet Union around 1940 right, and the Czech people had to learn Russian and Czech on school as Russian didn't really like England until ?1990? when the USSR fell apart.

But back to basic. Except of security inside the airport fences I haven't seen any police either security. Just when I arrived the security took a look at me, as I had my tripod with my standing on a higher wall to watch over the fence to see planes vacating runway or lining up...

Street view as shown below makes clear Czech Republic was a former part of Russia Federation with communist influences.
