Västerås RollOut 2009

Post by Flygvapnet_Viggen »

Hej hej!

As a yearly tradition Västerås Flygande Museum (Flying Museum) at Västerås-Hässlö Airport (aka Stockholm-Västerås nowadays) organised its airshow called Roll Out. This named after the first time the museum's airplanes are being rolled out from the hangars after standing inside for the whole winter.
This year's Roll Out 2009 had some nice features in the programme and was held during 30th and 31st of May. Besides the museum's great collection of aircrafts also the Swedish Airforce Historical Flight joined the show among which were one of its J32 Lansens and the only flying J29 Tunnan in the world! Furthermore, the show was topped by the demo of a Flygvapnet JAS39 Gripen also from F7 Såtenäs (as is the homebase of the SwHF).
An other dimension was the great amount of Saab Safirs present at the show as the yearly Safir Meeting was organised at the same time and same place. The Roll Out always provides nice photo opportunities as the aprons in use are also accesible and provide close watch during start up and recovery of the displaying aircrafts.

Weather couldn't have been better as the whole day through there was only sun! In the begining a bit annoying as the sun was partly in front of the crowd but I guess in Sweden they like to get sun tanned on the stomach instead of getting red shoulders! So all in all again a great day out in Sweden.

For now just three pics of the quick selection:

To Be Continued and comments more than welcome!

I'd rather depict atmosphere and the 'heat of the moment' making a catchy photo than to reflect the real situation and real colours showing a boring photo.

Nice pics Corné, I especially like the Tunnan. Very crisp. Would love to see more.
